Abstract

There is an increasing need to soundly manage – i.e., reliably store, share and preserve research data in the humanities and social sciences. The Data Intensive Research Initiative of South Africa (DIRISA) provides a host of data management services supporting these activities. These services are presented, along with various storage options provided by DIRISA.

Bio

Dr Anwar Vahed is the Director of the Data Intensive Research Initiative of South Africa (DIRISA). He manages the implementation of the national research data infrastructure for data intensive research and research data management, and coordinates the development of relevant expertise and strategies. Anwar is a computer scientist with more than 20 years’ experience in academia in the fields of data science, research data management, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
