About our working groups

In the earliest phase of the ESCALATOR programme working groups will be established that are directly linked to programme deliverables. Initially these working groups will focus on: development of the champions programme monitoring and evaluation of the ESCALATOR programme mapping the landscape of stakeholders and training initiatives for digital humanities and computational social science in South Africa.

Working group: Champions Programme

The working group will focus on the development and implementation of the Digital Humanities/Computational Social Sciences Champions programme. Based on the ESCALATOR project plan, we will develop a mentorship programme for researchers from any career stage wanting to become a leader at their organisation in terms of digital and computational research methods.

Working group: Monitoring & Evaluation

The working group will be responsible for tracking and measuring the impact of activities and resources developed by ESCALATOR. We will use best practices related to monitoring and evaluation including:

Working group: Stakeholders & Training Initiatives

One of the first activities ESCALATOR is focussing on, is to understand the role players in the field of digital humanities and computational social sciences in South Africa. We want to learn who are offering training opportunities, what work is being done, where are the gaps in terms of the training offerings, and more.
