Abstract

The Voice Computing Research Group at the CSIR has been researching and developing capabilities and technologies in the human language technology field for more than 20 years. In my talk I will provide a brief overview of the current R&D work the team is currently working on.

Bio

(Dr.) Ms. Avashna Govender is a senior research & development Engineer and the Research Group Leader of the Voice Computing Research Group within the NextGen Enterprises & Institutions cluster in the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in South Africa. Her recent research interests include the application of deep learning techniques that are being applied in current state-of-the-art text-to-speech and automatic speech recognition systems for under-resourced South African languages.
